Away from the funky electronics of its T-Touch watches, Tissot replica watches is at its best when it’s at its most elegant. In 2015, that comes in the form of dress watches that play to a sense of the brand’s past – including a whole new Vintage collection – and a fine re-design for its racing-inspired PRS 516 chronograph.
Replica Tissot Vintage
Tissot already had a Heritage collection; now it has a Vintage collection too. Well, if you’ve got 162 years of history behind you, you may as well have both. The difference is that that while the Heritage line includes a varied panoply of models inspired by specific historic models, replica Tissot Vintage watches is about dress watches, all of them in 18ct gold – making it a new upper tier for the brand, though still with both quartz and automatic models. There’s a range of men’s and women’s options, but the dominant aesthetic is the 1950s, thanks to the rather elegant case design.
The automatics are powered by the brand’s Powermatic 80 movement, an upgrading of the basic ETA 2824-2 tractor to double its power reserve to 80 hours. Our pick of the bunch is the model pictured above, with its hobnail guilloche dial and minimal Roman numerals. There are white or black dial versions available, priced at £1,900. The case is in rose gold.
PRS 516 Chronograph
Talking of the Heritage collection, one of Tissot’s best known watches is the PR 516 automatic, a sporty, tonneau-shaped slice of grooviness based on a watch from the 1960s. Its calling cards include large holes in the bracelet, as with retro motor sports Rolex replica watches, and hour markers set above the hands, which pass beneath them. Tissot added the PRS 516 chronograph, though in a much more contemporary style, but it wasn’t the most inspired design. That’s now changed, with this souped up and stylish new version.
While the holes in the strap and the raised baton markers remain, this is a more rounded, sophisticated and downright suave watch than its predecessor. A chronograph with only two sub-dials is arguably a bold move at this price point, but it adds up to a more balanced and elegant design. The wide bezel is in ceramic – something else you’d generally associate with higher-priced chronos, as is the domed anti-reflective sapphire crystal over the dial. Meanwhile the movement’s been upgraded too, with ETA’s Valjoux 7750 boosted to a 60-hour power reserve. £1,490
Chemin des Tourelles Automatic
At Baselworld last year Tissot presented a skeletonised replica watches uk as the introductory piece for a new line of understated models named “Chemin des Tourelles”, which is the street in Le Locle where Tissot’s factory was built in 1907. The range has now been expanded to include classical three-handers and chronographs, all of them automatics. The collection is at its best at its most understated, as in this steel number.
Once again you have the advantage of the Powermatic 80-your power reserve, and a pared-back look that one might only fault for its size, at 42mm – we’d prefer it a couple of millimetres smaller. Nevertheless, at £590 this represents formidable value for money in today’s top Tag Heuer replica watches market.
